We tried to go to Purple Garlic the other night although there was an hour or so wait outside. We looked across the parking area and decided to try Zulia’s Kitchen instead, which ended up being a fantastic decision. We started with fried sweet plantains served with shredded white cheese and nata sauce, which is a savory cream with lemon and salt. My husband got a Venezuelan hotdog (which he loved—said this is so good about 3 times while eating it) and Arepa Cabimera, and I got the Llanera Arepa which is a mixture of asada beef and grilled chicken with the fixings. We both liked the Arepas, which are a Venezuelan corn patty or flatbread, and the sauces were amazing. It was our first time trying Venezuelan food and every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were very generous—with leftovers that tasted just as good the next day. The restaurant also had a small grocery offering with Venezuelan and Latin food available for purchase. Zulia’s was very relaxed during our visit and a gem that I’m so glad that we tried. The food was tasty, excellent flavor and texture and the prices aren’t bad. Particularly enjoyed the empanadas and look forward to trying the arepas next time. The cheese sticks were tasty and the sauces were good, but definitely a kick on at least one of them. The hot dog salchiqueso was over the top for me, but not bad. Tables inside and out that were good. It was busy so a bit of a wait after ordering. Definitely plan to return.

Our lunch group added this to our list of places and finally made it over to Zulia’s. We tried the empanadas, pastelitos, and several of the arepas and everything was phenomenal. Plus the people who work there were super friendly and helped us navigate a new cuisine. Will definitely go again!

Wow wow wow and wow. Tried this place for the first time and def worth it the empanadas are huge stuffed and so flavorful. The arepa stuffed full and all the food has so much flavor. A must come to place to get great Latin food.

Absolutely incredible food. I was blown away by the shredded beef empanada it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Very tender beef and great sauce. The white rice was so fluffy and delicious, the plantains are amazing also.
